We got Shadow as a 9 week old pup through Petfinders. He was one of three pups left. We drove about 2 hours from the South Bay (San Francisco area) to Sacramento to get him.
He was diagnosed with cancer in late August. We hadn't expected him to last to Halloween. But with pain meds & prednizone he bounced back for a few more weeks. He was playing with Atlas Friday, but since then,

he's just gone down hill fast. Freya is a wreck. Has been for about 4 days now. I think she knew before all of us. I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with her. But it's hard when I have to cook, clean, do laundry, get kids to & from BART & school and raise a puppy.

The time has come to let Shadow, our 10.5 yr old Lab/Shepard/Dane mix, go.

Today is the second day he hasn't eaten.

Hubby had to carry him out side so he could do his business.

The sparkle is gone from his eyes now.

He is no longer happy. He tries to wag his tail, but he's too weak.

Tomorrow I call the vet.

He's been a GREAT dog.

So damn smart!

So gentle!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I'm thankful that Shadow is not going to be in pain anymore.
I'm glad that he got to know Atlas.
